Macmillan Caring Locally is recruiting new Trustees for its Board
Macmillan Caring Locally is a small, registered charity based at the Macmillan Unit in Christchurch Dorset. Our primary aim is to provide funding for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, which is a Hospice, a specialist palliative care ward and a centre of excellence. Although we share the Macmillan name, we are in fact not connected in any way to the national organisation Macmillan Cancer Support.
We are looking for experienced members of the public to join our Board as Trustees. We are particularly keen to recruit members of our local community who have one or more of the following skills or experiences:
Knowledge of the healthcare sector
Experience of a service user
Project management
Marketing
Fundraising
Board meetings are held five times a year, on a Monday afternoon in Bournemouth.
The Board has overall control of the charity and is responsible for setting the strategy and policies, and to guide and support the Trust Secretary and the charity staff. Trustees ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit.
If you would like to chat to one of our Board to find out what it is like to volunteer as a Trustee, please contact enquiries@macmillanlocal.org or 01202 477628. Find out what being a Trustee involves at the Charity Commission web site https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-trustee-whats-involved
