The Diamond Divas have reached an amazing fundraising total of £80,000 through years of songs and comic poetry. The Divas have spent 13 years raising funds for our charity and the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital.
Josie Spicer, choir co-ordinator, said: “The choir began 13 years ago with the simple goal of using our voices to support Macmillan Caring Locally (MCL). Since then, we have entertained at care homes, clubs, and churches across the area, using our love of singing and slapstick fun to entertain people, share laughter and raise funds for a truly wonderful cause”.
The group recently performed at Fairlawn care home in Ferndown, run by Care South, which raised £360 for MCL through an event that included a raffle and a cake sale.
Josie said the choir now raises about £10,000 each year and hopes to reach £100,000 by the end of 2028.
Tina Vincent, home manager at Fairlawn, said: “It was lovely for our residents to welcome the Diamond Divas to their home, where they enjoyed some beautiful singing to support MCL and the hospice.”
