The Diamond Divas ladies’ choir has made its latest donation to our charity, bringing its fundraising total to an impressive £86k in 14 years.
The Highcliffe-based Divas perform for donations which they pass on to our charity, helping us support our Hospice situated in the grounds of Christchurch Hospital.
The 20-strong choir also holds an annual fundraising coffee morning, and this summer’s event provided the ideal opportunity to present their latest donation, as choir coordinator Josie Spicer explained:
“The coffee morning raised £1220, including £504 from a very successful raffle and a £1000 donation from the family of one of our much-loved founding members Christabel Berry, who passed away in 2018.
“Neal Williams, Trust Secretary for Macmillan Caring Locally came along to enjoy some refreshments and to receive the cheque which brings our total raised so far to £86,000, of which we are all very proud.”
Neal said “I thoroughly enjoy the Diamond Divas’ coffee morning each year. It gives me the opportunity to thank them all personally for bringing joy and laughter to their many audiences, and for their amazing fundraising achievements. We are deeply grateful for all they do for the Mac Unit”.
The Diamond Divas will entertain for any local group or organisation, including care homes, and offer a musical programme of light, cheerful songs and usually a comic poem.
“Alongside supporting the Mac Unit, we love to have fun, and make our audiences laugh,” said Josie.
The choir is accompanied by pianist Terry Hayden.
