Mike Emsley, a Yorkshireman, spent 35 years working in the Newspaper Industry in Leeds, Barnsley, Southampton and finally in Bournemouth where his role was Director & General Manager of the Daily Echo and Director Southern Newspapers Central Region.

This was followed by 10 years in Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations as a director of Aylesworth Fleming Limited in Bournemouth, including six years as Chief Executive of Aylesworth Fleming PR.

Mike was a director of Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (now entitled Dorset Business) for 15 years including President of the Chamber in 1995/96. He was also a non-executive director of Yellow Buses, Chairman of Bournemouth Town Centre Management Board, a trustee of The Police Partnership Trust and was Chairman of The Streetwise Partnership Trust (now SafeWise) for 15 years.

He was a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MIMI) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MIPR).

Having been heavily committed within the community since arriving in Bournemouth in 1986, Mike welcomed the invitation to become a trustee of The Macmillan Cancer Trust in 1998 and became Chairman in 2016.
