As 2020 draws to a close, we have been reflecting on this somewhat extraordinary year. It would be fair to say it has been challenging, arduous and sometimes a little depressing to be honest. However, we are also feeling extremely grateful for all that we have learned and achieved this year and most of all, for all the wonderful people that make the Mac Unit what it is – an incredibly special place of which we are all so very proud.
Our nurses, doctors, staff and volunteers have shown unwavering bravery and selflessness in the face of coronavirus with the care and comfort of our patients remaining, as always, their number one priority. The whole team have worked so hard adjusting working practices and finding new ways to communicate and continue providing the necessary services to support our patients and their families throughout the pandemic – they truly are superheroes!
We have also been blown away by our amazing supporters this year. Despite all the cancelled events, social distancing and restrictions brought on by Covid-19, you have all shown incredible determination to keep moving, selling, creating and bringing people together (albeit virtually) all in the name of fundraising and we could not be more grateful.
As you will have read, we have sadly had to cancel this year’s White Christmas Dip but lots of you are dipping already or planning to in the days leading up to Christmas so thank you… but please be careful and do heed the advice of the White Christmas Dip team on social media! Even if you would rather stay warm at home, you can still support our Christmas Appeal. We hope you’ve seen the appeal online or in some of the local publications that have landed on your doorstep? If not, please do pop onto our website, have a read and share the link with your family and friends – help us to make a last wish come true this Christmas.
As the glimmering light of 2021 approaches, shining with a vaccine and lots of hope for a more sociable year, we are feeling positive for the next 12 months. The fundraising team are busy making plans for what we hope to achieve with or without Covid-19 restrictions and we are very much looking forward to seeing what amazing challenges and fundraising ideas you fabulous lot are going to surprise us with too.
Which only leaves us to say thank you. A huge, genuine and heartfelt thank you. You have carried us through this extraordinary year with your support – we couldn’t have done it without you. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
Until next time….
